UÇHİSAR
Uçhisar, which is located on the road between Nevşehir and Göreme, is only 7 km away from the city of Nevşehir. The Uçhisar Citadel is the highest point of the area where you can watch the fascinating panoramic view. It is worth watching the sunset from this point.
The rooms in the citadel are connected to each other with stairs and tunnels. In the entrance of the rooms there are huge round rocks look like millstones (like the ones in the underground cities) in order to block the entrances for security. There are graves dated back to the Byzantian period on the top of the citadel. Besides, there is the Pigeon Valley, which is worth seeing. The relives in this valley gibe you a clue about the formation of the panorama. The valley takes its name from the pigeon houses carved on each side.
